ABOUT US
Eureka House helps any persons with SUBSTANCE and/or ALCHOL ADDICTION. Having run a successful outpatient program since January 2006, we came to the realization that there was a great need for a halfway house in the Johannesburg Northern suburbs. Eureka House is situated close by Northgate Shopping Centre.
There were a number of motivations, namely - recovering addicts leaving primary treatment centre's in Johannesburg, numerous calls from families wanting their loved one (addict) to participate in an outpatient program and live in an environment of sobriety, addicts battling to maintain sobriety and work a program on their own, all requiring a well balanced, alcohol/drug fee environment to live in.
WHAT IS A HALFWAY HOUSE
Quite often the recovering addict leaving a treatment facility (inpatient) with all the necessary recovery tools, may encounter 'RE-ENTRY DEPRESSION' whereby even with the tools of recovery and the 'armor of God', still find themselves resorting back to old coping mechanisms at times of difficulty.
When living in a sober and controlled environment (halfway house), they find it much easier to make the transition back into society.
It is important for the recovering addict to feel that they are living in a safe environment. Eureka House therefore offers and creates structure, routine and consistency.
AFTER CARE
This is paramount and therefore recovering addicts are encouraged to continue therapy at their treatment centre or otherwise, as well as attend AA/NA/CA meetings weekly.
An NA meeting for all recovering addicts is held at Eureka House every Friday from 18H30 - 19H30. This is a closed meeting, express meeting. Directions can be found on the NA website or you can contact Vanessa directly.
